ngl, I’ve only ever used discord for video game communication. so using a forum outside of discord feels weird to me

I think the forum is a good idea, a designated place for communication. However, I also see the reality that it could end up like the discord where people say things and in reality nothing much happens. I would like to ask with the opening of the forum, will there be more of a serious polling and voting initiative to generate future content for the community? Or will it become a dead-zone of a million ideas but none that come to fruition. I love this game, and I believe the forum is an idea to use however, realistically, what makes this space different than the discord? I understand the burden the developers have as they are living their lives as well, however I do see some concerns of this space being wasted potential! Otherwise, I have high hopes and genuinely hope to see this help push the game into popularity again!
The intent is definitely to make these conversations better-structured and more durable so they don’t get lost in the noise.
The forum won’t magically make every idea happen, but it should make it much easier for good ideas, bug reports, and recurring concerns to be seen, discussed, searched, and revisited instead of disappearing in Discord chat after a few hours.
I also want Feature Requests and Bug Reports to become places where we can separate “interesting idea” from “something we are actively considering / planning / responding to.” That part will take some practice, but yes, the goal is for this to become more actionable than Discord, not just another place for ideas to pile up.

Reminds me of the old forums. I remember one of the topics about rebirth sacrifices and what not, very nostalgic. Hope it works out this time!

a bit worried that just like the Arcane Odyssey forums the vast majority of the playerbase won’t even know it exists
Incredibly excited to see the forums back, brings back a lot of memories! The Discord forums are fine, but it can be hard to keep track of some smaller posts/specific replies and searching them is a bit of a mess. Plus the markdown is a lot better here imo. Really hoping that this takes off.

It is very reminiscent of the old forums (fora?) which had a similar theme. I am somewhat sad that the old fora are gone, including old updates from alpha and beta, as well as the Vesteria meme megathread, but I am somewhat happy there is a new forum.

seeing the vesteria forums come back definitely unlocked a little part of my brain that got sealed away six years ago (i also remember how awful i was as a little 10 year old who had nothing better to do other than play vesteria during the revamp period where the game was shut down). oh well
i do think internet forums are better than discord servers and allow for more intelligent (if that’s the right word?) discussion, but are still subject to becoming cesspits of awfulness. hopefully that doesn’t happen here

Some of the old forum posts (including some alpha patch notes) were archived on Internet Archive, I’m starting up a collection of some of those as well as other archived posts here.
If anyone has any other old significant posts or collection of posts (ideally screenshots of the originals as they appeared on the forum, but Internet Archive screenshots are also fine although they’ll be missing images) let me know (either in messages here or through Discord DMs) and I’ll add them to the archive. I’ll be adding some stuff to the archive periodically as well if I find anything on Internet Archive or in random screenshots in various servers worth saving.
