My Thoughts on the Forum

I have no beginning to put so let’s get straight into this.

The forum is an amazing addition, I love how simple it is and easy to navigate.
Allows the players to talk about anything in specific categories which doesn’t clutter the forum in any way. The UI is really clean too, whoever made it did a great job.
There’s a few issues and suggestions I have though, which I think are very easy to fix and implement:

  • Add a way to go to the database through the forum and vice versa.

  • Let us be able to see when someone has read your message.

  • Add some type of requirement to make posts on the forum. (for example: 1 hour read time or make 5 replies or make 10 messages in General)

  • Add a incentive to use the forum. (for example: Make a daily login reward. Put it in a channel like #login-reward and it would go on for 7 days then reset to day 1. The rewards could be this:
    Day 1 - 20 orange potions & 20 purple potions
    Day 2 - 500 Silver
    Day 3 - 20% EXP boost for a hour
    Day 4 - 25 Ethyr
    Day 5 - 5 Ancient Scrolls (random)
    Day 6 - 1 Gold
    Day 7 - 1 Holy Scroll
Make some sort of requirement to redeem rewards.
(If you want to, you could put titles in the game for forum participation. For example, a title for 100 posts made.)

  • The upload limit is flawed. It says the limit is 10 mb, yet you can only put a file size up to 1 megabyte.

Overall, I rate the forum a 8/10. :sparkles:
The main issue is player engagement, but other than that, there’s no problem. Great job dev team, y’all smashed it. :purple_heart:

I really enjoy this post. The addition of an incentive to comment on a database post was successful in getting people signed up for the forums, but it was broadly speaking unsuccessful in creating long term forum engagement without already extant resources on here. Your suggestion of incentivizing daily interaction is one I was actually thinking of suggesting myself. I’m excited to see people happy about the existence of the forum as we grow it.

I also think that we can drive engagement on here by beginning to post announcements here as well as on discord and actually potentially begin phasing discord specific announcements out.

let’s actually never phase out discord announcements. you saw how guilded went.
if it had to be done, just announce the update on discord, but only put the details on the forums. discord people would only see “THE BABY YETI CAVE EXPANSION RELEASES 8/28/2026!” and would have to click on the forum post to actually know what the baby yeti cave expansion update is about.

this naturally draws engagement to the forums without completely cutting communication with the rest of the community

I’ve had the exact same idea for something I plan on doing soon
