Forgotten Staff Problem

Forgotten staff has been meta for quite a while now with Sorcerer and now it’s gotten a really big buff with the addition of the Silkweaver T1 perk making it a near meta for all classes now, just even more so for Sorcerers now.

Let me explain why the Forgotten staff, a weapon easily obtainable via the post community day events economy and also obtainable easily from grinding out Possum in The Pit, is just as good as Peppermint staff and Ankh (which are, and why is needs a heavy nerf in PvP.

PvP:
Forgotten Staff’s cooldown is way too small while it’s radius is ginormous in PvP causing it to be a spammable target locking carpet bomber meaning player’s should just accept their death once hit by it when they are the only ones within the “targeting radius”, even more so when combined with Silkweaver T1.

PvE Sorc:

Forgotten Staff has a crucial role in many sorcerer’s ability rotations due to the fact it has a low cooldown so it can easily fit within the rotation while still keeping good enough if not better damage compared to other options for proccing lingering magic. With the addition of the silkweaver set, it’s even given non-crit chance driven sorcerers a low cost option to gain a lot of damage for a low cost.

I agree that in pvp its a problem because its radius and auto aim but in pve its perfectly balanced with other staves and silkweaver set is just a reskin of wwhat and sol robes in terms of dmg

For such an easily accessible staff, how can it be balanced and be just as good if not better than ankh (an actual relic)?

You realize there is about 7 staff which all do about the same dmg on paper but they all have their use cases where they just top all the other staffs meanwhile you want to nerf the one staff for which the best use case is the exact case you test it on (single target that cant hit back) the staff itself has a few downsides that make it unusable in some cases where it will be heavily outperformed by ankh and other cases where it will outperform an ankh a great case of this is talrey where ankh can do more burst dmg during the dmg window but forg is alot better for the dps test thx to its better cooldown timing match with sorc abilities, you also forget ankh shouldnt be the best in terms of dmg with the same scrolls because its unbreakable for a reason its scrolls make up for the very small dmg difference in the ability mods of both staffs

you make a good point about the staves being used for different scenarios. I did not think about that.
