The Bard class specializes in musical art and magic, wielding special types of instruments but what it lacks to wield is the guitar, one of the most famous instruments played worldwide, with a very huge variety of playing and music styles, looks, and it has a ton of musical history behind the weapon
The main reason to add guitars is simple: Bards shouldn’t have to rely on daggers when their entire identity is built around music. It’ll also allow for a variety of expansion in future updates, either being skins, or different guitars, or possibly even more two-handed equipment for different classes, etc.
Guitars also look really cool, with all the different body styles, and colors one can be, acoustic or electric, there’s practically an infinite amount of designs possible to make. Acoustic and electric guitar are both cool and can both be added, acoustic being a warm, beautiful and soft melody, while electric can have a loud heavy metal sound to it.
For Vesteria players, adding guitars would be huge for both PvP and PvE variety. It opens up so many unique M1 playstyles, like ranged AoE strums, or a stage smashing like melee attack, or even a rhythm mechanic where your damage builds up the longer you keep a rhythm going.
It can also give base hunter abilities a musical redesign to get around the two handed part of the weapon, and not have the abilities be completely useless since with the guitar a dagger or bow wouldn’t be possible to equip.
-
Barrage can turn into a rapid multi note strumming burst.
-
Shunpo can shift from a dagger stab into a smooth glide that leaves a temporary trail behind you.
-
Execute can become a high pitched shockwave right in front of you that deals a small AoE burst of damage right in front of you
To keep it balanced the weapon would have its own downsides. Because it’s a heavier instrument, you’d have slightly slower movement speed, slower M1 swing and completely locking your offhand slot (or only allowing adventurer only tomes).
